Moran Photographic Prize Finalist 2018

Very happy to have my image THE BURNING shortlisted for the Moran Photographic Contemporary Prize.

The Burning (2017) was photographed on the 18th February in the late afternoon as two out of control bush fires threatened the township of Lennox Head, Northern New South Wales. Local residents gathered to watch the enormity of the blaze and smoke atop a hill within the town. This moment was captured as local children gathered in awe of the grandeur of the fire and also perturbed of what destruction it may bring.

Key findings from The Climate Council of Australia have found that Climate change is influencing extreme weather events in Australia with Extreme fire weather and the length of the fire season is increasing, leading to an increase in bushfire risk.
