Camp Liberty

This set of images is from the Bentley Blockade in Northern NSW.
The blockade named Camp Liberty was formed in January 2014 on neighboring farmland opposed to a proposed invasive gas drill site in Bentley.
People camped and stood together in order to protect the environment and the threat of invasive gas drilling.
On May 15th 2014 the Minister for Energy and Resources, Anthony Roberts announced the suspension of Metgasco’s Petroleum Exploration Licence on the grounds of inadequate community consultation.
“The Bentley Blockade has been an historic outbreak of democracy in which an entire region has stood up against the combined forces of the State government and the mining industry,” said Gasfield Free Northern Rivers spokesperson, Aidan Ricketts.
